Bird flu has broken out in Hungary, experts warn of spread
Hungarian authorities have confirmed a new case of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza at a duck farm in the city of Szolnok. The disease has killed more than 700 birds from a flock of nearly 20,000.
The remaining ducks had to be culled as a precautionary measure, according to the World Organization for Animal Health.
With the start of the season, bird flu is once again spreading rapidly in Europe, causing concern not only for farmers but also for health authorities. H5N1 has significantly impacted the poultry sector in the past, disrupting supply chains and leading to an increase in food prices.
There are also fears about the possible transmission of the virus to humans.
