Xi Jinping proposes the establishment of a global organization for cooperation in the field of AI

At the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the South Korean city of Gyeongju, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the establishment of a global organization for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, which would contribute to the coordination and development of AI projects between countries.

Twenty-one countries participated in the summit. Xi Jinping's proposal was supported, for example, by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, who emphasized the need for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. According to him, the goal of the APEC community should be for the countries of the Asia-Pacific region to work together to find solutions to current technological challenges.

The summit participants agreed on three joint agreements on trade and investment.

The Chinese city of Shenzhen will become the new center of the next APEC summit in 2026.
During the summit, President Lee Che-myong also met with the new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for the first time. After the meeting, he expressed optimism about future relations between South Korea and Japan, which have been complicated in the past by historical and political issues.
