Newsom gains new army of donors for possible 2028 campaign

California Governor Gavin Newsom has gained a large number of new supporters thanks to his campaign for Proposition 50. This initiative proposes to redraw California's electoral districts to better suit Democrats.

The campaign has brought Newsom more than 100,000 new donors, more than half of whom are from states other than California. According to an analysis by Politico magazine, this is a significant expansion from Newsom's previous campaigns.

The initiative attracted not only large sponsors but also a significant number of small and medium-sized donors, with the vast majority contributing less than $3,500. The influx of new contacts represents a potential advantage in the upcoming Democratic Party primaries.

Proposition 50 promoted a change in the electoral system in response to the Republican agenda and a strengthening of Democratic control of the House of Representatives. The campaign leadership communicated not only its political goals to donors, but also opportunities for further support via a YouTube channel or text messages.
