Trump wants to redirect billions from Obamacare directly to citizens

Donald Trump has proposed a new solution to the ongoing dispute over the US government shutdown - to redirect federal funds currently going to health insurers under the system known as Obamacare directly to citizens.

In his view, this would allow people to provide better quality healthcare for themselves and still have money left over. He posted the proposal on Truth Social just hours before the Senate was scheduled to reconvene.

The shutdown at the time became the longest in U.S. history, and hundreds of thousands of federal employees were left without a paycheck.

The Democratic Party insists on including health care subsidies in the government funding bill, which would affect 24 million people.

Republicans, however, argue that the government needs to be reopened first and then deal with other issues. Neither the White House nor Senate leaders have yet responded to Trump's comments.
