Ukrainian government faces corruption allegations, minister promises transparency

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk on Monday declared her commitment to transparency in the context of ongoing investigations into possible corruption in the energy sector.

Two anti-corruption agencies are currently looking into the allegations, but Hrynchuk said she did not yet know the specific details of the investigations.

She expressed hope that an open approach would help maintain the trust of international partners who have long supported Ukraine in the energy sector.

Ukraine is also currently facing increased pressure from the European Union to effectively fight corruption in the public sector.
