Vatican: Jesus did not appear in Dozulé, France, the case is not genuine
The Vatican has officially rejected claims of an apparition of Jesus in the town of Dozulé in northern France. In a new opinion, approved by Pope Leo XIV, the doctrinal office said that these alleged apparitions from the 1970s do not have supernatural origins.
A local resident claimed to have seen Jesus 49 times and received messages from him, including instructions to build a huge cross.
However, the Vatican reminds that such a phenomenon cannot be considered authentic and warns against exploiting it for financial purposes. It also recalls that according to the alleged prophecy, the world was supposed to end before the year 2000, which did not happen.
Catholics may believe in supernatural apparitions, but these are subject to strict approval. Examples of accepted cases are the apparitions of Mary at Guadalupe or Jesus to Sister Faustina.
In a separate document, the Vatican has also clarified that Mary cannot be described as a "co-redemptrix".
