Well-known social network faces EU investigation for unavailable user appeals

Ireland's media regulator has launched an investigation into Platform X (formerly Twitter) over allegations that it is breaching EU rules known as the Digital Services Act (DSA).

According to the authority, it does not provide users with sufficient opportunity to appeal against content moderation decisions. The institution says it has an opaque complaints system.

The investigation will focus on whether Elon Musk-owned X complies with these parts of the regulation, which emphasise transparency and the protection of user rights.

The Irish regulator is responsible for overseeing platforms that are based in Ireland and operate within the EU, which is the case with X.
