Israel has taken the body of a hostage from Hamas. Three still remain in Gaza

Through the Red Cross on Thursday, Israel received the body of Meny Godard, a 73-year-old resident of a kibbutz near Gaza who was killed in a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. His body was transferred to Gaza after the attack, and his death was officially confirmed on December 8.

The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced his handover, but no official notification was received by the Israeli authorities beforehand. The body was identified by Israeli forensic experts shortly after it was received.

The remaining remains of three other hostages are still in Gaza. According to the Prime Minister's Office, the Israeli government is continuing its efforts to recover all the fallen.
