Witkoff is reportedly to meet with Hamas' chief negotiator

US special envoy Steve Witkoff prepares to meet with Hamas chief negotiator Khalil al-Hajj. The exact date of the meeting is not yet known, but the aim is to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and next steps.

Some Israeli and US officials warn that any contact with Hamas could be seen as strengthening its position in the region, the Jerusalem Post reports.
