Ukraine says it attacked an oil refinery in Russia's Samara region

Ukrainian forces have struck the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in Russia's Samara region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Sunday. It added that it had recorded explosions and a fire at the site of the attack, but the extent of the damage was still being assessed.

The annual processing volume of this refinery is 8.8 million tons, according to the General Staff. It is one of the main producers of high-quality aircraft fuel used by the Russian military.

"In addition, the Rubikon unit's drone storage base and a fuel pumping station in (...) Donetsk region were hit," the report said.
