Ex-premier Kasyanov and economist Guriev added to Russian terrorist list

Russia's financial watchdog has placed former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and well-known economist Sergei Guriyev on a list of "extremists and terrorists". The information was published on the authority's official website.

Kasyanov served as prime minister during the first years of Vladimir Putin's government, but was dismissed by the president in 2004. After leaving office, he joined the opposition and left Russia in 2022. He has long been a critic of the Kremlin and of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In November 2023, he was put on the list of "foreign agents".

Guriyev, a former chief economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, serves as dean of the prestigious London Business School. He, too, has been a vocal critic of the Russian government.
