Orbán on more aid for Ukraine: it's like sending alcohol to an addict
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán opposed further financial support for Ukraine from Brussels. On the social network X, he reported that he had received a letter from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who called on member states to help cover Ukraine's budget deficit.
Orbán described such a request as surprising and likened further funding to trying to "help a man with an addiction by sending him more boxes of vodka".
The European Commission's planning of funding options for Ukraine for 2026-2027 assumes that the war could end by the end of 2026.
According to available data, Ukraine will need more than €71 billion from foreign sources next year, of which more than €51 billion is expected to go towards military spending, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
