Kiev and Washington are still fine-tuning the upcoming peace plan

The United States and Ukraine on Monday continued to tweak the peace framework because the White House's initial proposal was widely seen as too favorable to Russia.

Washington says the new draft better reflects Ukrainian interests, but neither side has given details. At the same time, US President Donald Trump is stepping up pressure for a swift conclusion of the deal, but the November 27 deadline - US Thanksgiving - may no longer be firm, according to US diplomatic chief Marco Rubio.

Meanwhile, European states have put forward their own proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine war, which softens territorial concessions from Kiev and includes a US security guarantee for Ukraine in the event of an attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may travel to the U.S. later this week to address the most sensitive points of the pending agreement with Trump.

The tense negotiations are taking place at a time when Russia is advancing on the frontline and attacking Ukraine's energy industry - while Kiev is also dealing with internal pressure caused by corruption scandals.
