Putin and Erdogan discuss peace plan for Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday discussed by phone the US proposal to end the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin said the U.S. proposals were in line with discussions between Putin and President Donald Trump in August and could serve as a basis for reaching a "final peaceful solution."
According to Russian sources, the Turkish president promised Putin that Turkey would support the peace process "by all available means."
He offered Istanbul as a venue for future negotiations, the press department of the Turkish presidential office reported. In the words of the Turkish president, this should facilitate direct contacts between Moscow and Kiev.
