Mexico investigates Miss Universe boss for drugs, weapons and theft

The Mexican Attorney General's Office announced that it is investigating the president of the Miss Universe organization on allegations of drug and arms trafficking, as well as fuel theft. It also announced the issuance of 13 arrest warrants, but did not disclose the names of the suspects.

According to Mexican media, among them is Miss Universe president Raúl Rocha, who, as a Mexican businessman, owns half of the organisation.

The official statement only includes a shortened form of the name "Raúl R.", which is consistent with Mexican practice in releasing the names of those under investigation. The prosecutor's office said the investigation runs from 2024 and will disclose details later. Neither Rocha nor the competition's management have yet responded to requests for comment.

This year's Miss Universe Thailand pageant was won by Mexico's Fátima Bosch, who had previously come under the spotlight by leading a walkout of some of the contestants in protest when pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil allegedly called her a "dumbass".
