Kremlin to discuss draft peace plan from US and Ukraine next week

Russia has confirmed that it has received a new, "updated and refined" draft peace framework to end the war in Ukraine, according to the US and Kiev.

The Kremlin said the draft would be discussed in Moscow next week. Russian President Vladimir Putin said as recently as Thursday that the draft proposals discussed by the United States and Ukraine in Geneva could serve as the basis for future peace agreements.

But if the sides fail to reach an agreement, he said, Russia will continue to fight.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that they already have the document: "The details have been handed over to us and the discussion will take place next week in Moscow."

Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy, is also expected to arrive in the Russian capital to discuss the proposals directly with Putin.

Exactly when the talks will take place has not yet been announced by the Kremlin.
