Zelenskyy appoints ex-ambassador to the US as adviser
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Sunday that Oxana Markarova, Ukraine's former ambassador to the United States, will become his new adviser on reconstruction and investment. He informed about it on the X network.
"Starting today, Oksana Markarova will continue to support our country as my adviser on reconstruction and investment," he wrote. "In addition to the fundamental goal of defending our independence and working every day to ensure Ukraine's survival, we also have a long-term goal: to provide Ukraine with the capacity to recover from the fighting and resume normal economic development."
Markarova has been Ukraine's ambassador to Washington since 2021 and played a significant role in strengthening U.S.-Ukrainian relations after the Russian invasion. Now she is to be involved in strategic planning for reconstruction and attracting investment for the country.
In a cabinet reshuffle led by former presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak, Markarova has been replaced by former justice minister and deputy prime minister for Eurointegration Olha Stefanishynova.
