Merz: Germany and Poland plan to sign defence agreement in 2026

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday that Germany and Poland are working on signing a defence cooperation agreement.

At a press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Merz said, "We have instructed our ministers to prepare a defence cooperation agreement."

"We want to finalise it in 2026, which will be the bilateral anniversary year," Merz added, referring to the 35th anniversary of the Polish-German partnership agreement.
