Russians mount new missiles on shahids to destroy planes and helicopters

For the first time, Ukrainian experts have noted that a Russian Shahid attack drone carries mounted R-60 air-to-air missiles. Ukrainian expert Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov reported this on his Telegram channel, Unian news agency reports.

Thus, the originally Iranian drone, which is now also produced by Russia, is not only intended to attack ground targets, but also to destroy the machines that pursue it in the air.

Beskrestnov said that the R-60 missile on the Shahid was identified for the first time ever. The combination, he said, is intended to destroy helicopters and tactical aircraft that hunt the shahids.

Defense Express experts clarified that the R-60 missile was developed in the 1960s. It has a range of seven kilometres for the R-60 version and eight kilometres for the R-60M, but only about 1.5 kilometres at low altitudes. It weighs up to 44 kilograms, with the warhead itself weighing between three and 3.5 kilograms.

Experts point out that launching the missile requires very precise operator navigation and a stable, strong communications channel.
