Ukraine's entry into NATO not yet possible, according to Rutte

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed on Tuesday that the Alliance does not yet have a unified position on Ukraine's accession. "The practical situation, as you know, is that Ukraine's entry into NATO requires the consensus of all allies. And at the moment, as you know, there is no consensus on Ukraine joining NATO," he stressed.

He also announced that in the coming days he expects new contributions from allies to the PURL (Ukraine's Priority Urgent Requirements List) mechanism, which is used to coordinate and finance arms deliveries to Kiev.

He did not fail to mention that he supports the United States initiative aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. He believes that it will bring peace to Europe.

The specific terms of a potential agreement, he said, will be dealt with separately.
