Kremlin has not yet seen new US peace proposals

Moscow has not yet received revised US proposals for a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine, but it might not like some parts of them. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said on Friday. According to him, the Russian side has not yet seen the new versions of the US proposals and will be able to assess them only after they are delivered.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday that Kiev had agreed on key points of post-war reconstruction in talks with US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and other senior officials.

He added that work on the so-called economic document is continuing and Ukraine is fully aligned with the United States in this area.

The US is reportedly considering the creation of an investment fund for Ukraine, which would also focus on strategic sectors, including precious metals. At the same time, Moscow has indicated interest in foreign investment following reports that the US peace plan also envisages investment in Russia's rare materials and energy sectors.

Ushakov also said that European and Ukrainian officials are expected to hold intensive consultations over the weekend and the Kremlin wants to see their outcome first.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there were no longer any lingering misunderstandings between Moscow and Washington over Ukraine, but Russia insisted that the peace plan should include collective security guarantees for all sides.

Ushakov also said on Friday that a ceasefire in Ukraine is only possible after Ukrainian forces withdraw from the Donbas region. He added that under the peace plan, only Russian National Guard troops could be deployed in the Donbas, while the Russian military would not be present in parts of the region currently under Ukrainian control.
