Man ends up in police hands after series of stabbings in Paris metro

French police on Friday evening arrested a man suspected in a series of knife attacks on the Paris metro in which three women were injured. The incidents took place over a short period of time at around 4pm at République, Arts et Métiers and Opéra stations in the centre of the French capital.

According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the victims' injuries were not life-threatening. Police were able to identify the suspect, a man aged around 25, thanks to footage from security cameras.

Authorities also said that the man was known to the police in the past for minor offences, in particular damage to property. The motive for the attacks has not yet been disclosed and the investigation is ongoing.

The case has sparked public concern as the attacks occurred at busy metro locations during the afternoon rush hour.
