Russia showered Kiev with drones. Zelensky and Trump to discuss peace

Shortly before an important meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump, Ukraine was hit by more Russian missiles and drones.

The overnight airstrikes on Kiev and other areas heightened tensions ahead of a meeting in Florida where the two presidents are due to discuss borders and security guarantees after the eventual end of the war.

Kiev is facing not only missiles but also diplomatic pressure. Territorial control, particularly over the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and regions in the Donbas, remains a key obstacle. Moscow, in its own words, sees a "turning point" but does not comment on the details of the US proposals.

The United States proposes a compromise, including the creation of a free economic zone, but Ukraine wants long-term and legally binding guarantees. If a "strong" position cannot be enforced, Zelensky is considering a referendum - in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire.

Trump says nothing will move without his approval. But the fighting continues and the situation is not easing.
