European troops in Ukraine are a legitimate target for Russia, warns Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a series of statements published by Russia's TASS news agency, has taken a tough stance on two major geopolitical issues.

First of all, he rejected any form of independence for Taiwan and stressed that Russia considers it an integral part of China. At the same time, with regard to Asia, he called on Japan to reconsider its actions, which, in his view, are leading to militarisation.

In another statement, Lavrov focused on Ukraine, warning that any European troops deployed on its territory would automatically become a legitimate target for Russian forces.

He accused European leaders of being driven by political ambitions rather than the interests of the Ukrainian people and their own nations.
