IAEA: Repairs to power lines have started at Zaporozhye power plant

"Key repairs to power lines near Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant have begun following another local ceasefire brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," the agency said on Sunday, citing its director-general Rafael Grossi.

An IAEA team is monitoring the repairs, which are expected to take several days, as part of efforts to prevent a nuclear accident during the war in Ukraine, the agency added.

Grossi thanked both sides on the X network for agreeing to this new temporary "window of silence." Its aim is to restore power transmission between the substations of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and the Zaporizhzhya thermal power plant, thus strengthening nuclear safety.
