Moscow reportedly plans attack with casualties, aims to sabotage peace talks
Ukrainian intelligence warns of possible provocation by Russia to sabotage the US-initiated peace talks.
According to SVR, the Kremlin is planning a staged attack with civilian casualties on January 6 or 7, during Orthodox Christmas. The site of the attack is to be an object with strong symbolism - such as a religious building - on Russian territory or in an occupied part of Ukraine.
To falsify evidence of Ukraine's alleged involvement, Russia wants to use Western drones imported from the front.
This is in response to the recent fake "attack" on Putin's residence, with which Moscow launched an information campaign aimed at escalating the conflict.
The Kremlin says it has to rethink its negotiating positions because of the incident. The United States, however, has described these claims as unfounded.
Ukrainian intelligence appeals to the media not to succumb to Russian propaganda and to carefully verify the information disseminated by the Kremlin.
