Erdogan to hold talks with Trump on Ukraine and Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that he plans a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Monday. The topic will be the continuation of peace efforts between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Erdogan made the remarks during an address in Istanbul on Friday. He also reported that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a meeting of the "coalition of the willing" - an informal group of states supporting Ukraine - in Paris in the coming days.

Turkey has long declared its interest in mediating in international conflicts, maintaining diplomatic contacts with both Moscow and Kiev.
