Maduro to appear in federal court in New York

Ousted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores arrived at a federal courthouse in New York on Monday, where they were escorted from a Brooklyn jail under tight security.

They appeared outside the courthouse in beige prison garb, surrounded by DEA agents. It is a historic moment - the first time Maduro will appear before the US judiciary, CNN reports.

Meanwhile, Venezuela's foreign ministry has paid tribute to the 32 Cuban citizens it says died in the US attack on Caracas over the weekend.
