DeepSeek avoided sanctions for untruths in responses
The Italian antitrust authority AGCM has closed an investigation into China's DeepSeek AI system for failing to adequately warn users about the possibility of generating false information - so-called hallucinations.
The investigation started in June 2025, but the case was closed after DeepSeek's operators - companies from Hangzhou and Beijing - submitted binding measures.
These are intended to improve the way the system reports on the risk of outputs that may be inaccurate or misleading.
The AGCM said in a bulletin on Monday that the new measures make the alerts clearer, more transparent and immediately accessible.
