Rodríguez is sworn in as interim president

Following the dramatic intervention of US forces that led to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the previous Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, has been appointed interim President of Venezuela.

She was inaugurated by her brother, Jorge Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly.

On the same day, 283 newly elected legislators were sworn in - most of them belonging to the ruling coalition, as the main opposition faction boycotted the elections.
