Ukraine to deploy more technology under Fedorov

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has presented key tasks for Mykhailo Fedorov, who is to take over the defence ministry, Unian news agency reported.

The incumbent minister of digital transformation is to bring technological innovation directly to the defence sector - from the development of new weapons to the more effective use of drones.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine must counter Russian superiority with technological sophistication and modern tactics. Fedorov, meanwhile, has been behind several technological projects in the past that have improved the country's defence capabilities.

In December 2025, according to Zelensky, 35 thousand enemy targets were confirmed destroyed thanks to these systems. The President also assured that Ukraine remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, but Russia does not show the same interest.

Fedorov is expected to present proposals for reforms within a week, which should also be supported by the parliament.

Denys Shmyhal is expected to take up a new post as energy minister and deputy prime minister.
