Senator Graham: After Maduro, Cuba will fall too
Following the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, predictions are being made from Washington about the possible collapse of the Cuban communist regime. Senator Lindsey Graham has declared that after Maduro's "fall", the Cuban dictatorship has no chance of survival, reports The Hill.
At the same time, President Trump announced that U.S. oil companies will take control of Venezuela's oil reserves. Yet Cuba, a close ally of Venezuela, is heavily dependent on its oil.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned the Cuban government that it should be "worried" following Maduro's arrest.
Cuban President Díaz-Canel condemned the detention of Maduro and his wife as a "crime" and demanded their release.
