Meloni warns against political violence after recent attack

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned political hatred after an attack on four young activists from her Brothers of Italy party during the annual commemoration of the death of three neo-fascist teenagers in 1978.

The incident took place while the activists were putting up commemorative posters. They suffered only minor injuries, but their car was damaged.

Meloni described the deaths almost 50 years ago as a dark chapter in Italian history and warned that violence in politics is always a defeat for democracy. She called for respect, dialogue, and the rejection of ideological hatred.

Although her party has historical ties to the neo-fascist MSI, Meloni has repeatedly denied any sympathy for fascism and insists that the Brothers of Italy reject any form of radicalism.

The annual commemorations on Via Acca Larentia are accompanied by controversial fascist symbols.
