The US is withdrawing from dozens of international organizations

US President Donald Trump announced that the US will withdraw from more than 60 international and UN organizations, including the UNFCCC climate agreement and UN Women. He justified this by saying that, in his opinion, several of these entities are contrary to the national interests of the United States.

This move is part of a broader effort to limit US funding and participation in multilateral structures, which Trump describes as ineffective and ideologically motivated.

The administration has focused primarily on organizations promoting climate, gender, and global governance agendas.

The announced withdrawal follows previous decisions to leave the WHO, UNESCO, and the UN Human Rights Council. The US will also limit funding for entities that "ineffectively address key issues."

The UN has not yet responded, but experts warn that withdrawing from fundamental agreements such as the UNFCCC could weaken the US's influence on global policy-making in key areas.
