More than half a million people are without electricity after the Ukrainian attack
Approximately 600,000 residents of Russia's Belgorod region were left without electricity, heating, and water after a Ukrainian missile strike.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said they are working to restore infrastructure, but conditions are extremely difficult, especially due to the continuing cold weather.
Belgorod, which borders Ukraine's Kharkiv region, has been a frequent target of Ukrainian attacks in recent months. Images from the city show residents navigating in the dark using only flashlights or car headlights.
Energy targets are regularly targeted by both sides – Kiev is also facing heat and power outages after Russian attacks.
