Trump: I am making Venezuela rich and safe again

US President Donald Trump wrote on social media on Saturday that he is "making Venezuela rich and safe again," a week after US special forces attacked Caracas and captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, NBS News reports.

Maduro was taken to New York, where he faces federal charges, including narco-terrorism.

The United States has announced that it will temporarily administer Venezuela "until power can be safely transferred." The US has also called on its citizens to leave the country immediately due to the security situation and the activities of armed pro-government groups that are searching for Americans.

There remains a strong presence of security forces and militias on the streets of Caracas.
