More than a thousand homes in Kiev are without heating, with temperatures falling below -12 °C

More than a thousand apartment buildings in Kyiv remain without heating after a massive Russian attack that hit Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Kyiv is slowly recovering from Friday's outage, which cut off the city from electricity and heat in the midst of severe frosts. Local authorities have restored water supplies and partially restored heating, but according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the situation remains critical.

President Volodymyr Zelensky claims that Russia is using the weather as a tool of coercion and has fired more than a thousand drones and dozens of missiles at Ukraine over the past week. In addition, damage to the network is accumulating, and the fourth winter of the war may prove to be the harshest.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenkova said that repairs are progressing quickly, but Kyiv will have to wait until at least Thursday for a complete recovery. However, daily attacks on infrastructure repeatedly disrupt these efforts.
