Trump wants to negotiate with Musk on restoring internet access for Iranians

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump announced that he wants to negotiate with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk about restoring internet connectivity in Iran.

The country has been experiencing a complete internet blackout for four days, which the regime imposed in response to mass anti-government protests. Trump praised Musk's abilities and technologies, while not ruling out cooperation with the Starlink satellite network, which Iranians also used during the 2022 demonstrations.

The relationship between Trump and Musk has gone through several crises, from joint success in the election campaign to public disagreements over tax policy.

However, the pair recently met for dinner at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is scheduled to visit SpaceX's headquarters in Texas.

Meanwhile, anti-government protests in Iran have claimed hundreds of lives – according to HRANA, 490 civilians and 48 security personnel have died. More than 10,000 people have been detained. The regime has not released official figures.
