Witkoff secretly met with exiled Iranian Prince Pahlavi

White House envoy Steve Witkoff met over the weekend with Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's last shah in exile and a prominent voice in the fragmented opposition, to discuss the protests plaguing the country.

This took place amid escalating protests in Iran, during which, according to activists, at least 2,000 people have died.

Axios reported on Tuesday, citing an unnamed senior US official.

The son of Iran's last shah had previously stated that he was prepared to become the country's transitional leader if the theocratic regime in Tehran fell. He also called on US President Donald Trump to intervene in Iran and support the demonstrators.
