UNICEF: More than 100 children killed since October ceasefire in Gaza

More than 100 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire began in October. UNICEF spokesman James Elder told reporters at a UN briefing via video link from Gaza.

According to him, although the ceasefire has slowed down the bombing and shooting, it has not completely stopped the violence, and the survival of civilians remains dependent on the security situation.

Elder specified that approximately 60 of the victims were boys and 40 were girls. According to him, almost all of the deaths were caused by military attacks – air strikes, drone strikes, tank shelling, shooting, and quadcopter attacks. Only a small number of cases were caused by unexploded ordnance.

UNICEF also warned that the number may be underestimated, as it is based only on deaths for which sufficient information was available.
