The FBI searched the home of a Washington Post reporter for leaking information.

On Wednesday, the FBI conducted a search of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson's home as part of an investigation into the leak of classified information. Although Natanson is not the subject of the investigation, agents seized her phone, personal and work laptops, and watches.

The investigation focuses on Aurelio Perez-Lugones, a systems administrator with access to top-secret material. The FBI found sensitive intelligence documents hidden in his lunchbox and basement. The arrest warrant states that investigators are looking into how these documents could have been leaked.

Natanson is known for her reporting on the federal workforce and played a significant role in publishing sensitive information during the first year of Trump's second administration.

In December, she described how she had gained access to more than a thousand sources, with federal employees often turning to her to share their frustrations and experiences from their offices.

The search of the editor's home raised concerns, as such actions against journalists are extremely rare. Critics link it to the April repeal of the policy protecting journalistic sources by Attorney General Pam Bondi. She said that leaks are illegal and must be dealt with by all means available.
