Trump toughens stance: US to suspend visas for dozens of countries

The US State Department has announced that the United States will suspend the issuance of visas to applicants from 75 countries. The measure is set to take effect on January 21 and is based on a memorandum first reported by Fox News.

Countries such as Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Thailand will be affected.

The United States has also ordered its embassies to temporarily reject visa applications until existing procedures are reviewed. No specific time frame has been set.

This move comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is continuing his tough immigration policy.

In November last year, he announced a permanent ban on migration from so-called third world countries, responding to a shooting near the White House allegedly committed by an Afghan.
