European troops head to Greenland, Poland will not join

European countries are sending troops to Greenland in response to growing tensions caused by US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly declared his interest in gaining control of the island.

He claims that strategically located Greenland is key to national security and fears the influence of Russia and China in the region.

However, Denmark and Greenland insist that the island is not for sale, warning that military pressure could threaten NATO unity.

France, Germany, Sweden, and Norway have already sent their first troops as part of planned exercises in the Arctic.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk rejected the possibility of sending Polish troops to Greenland and warned that any attempt by one NATO member to intervene on the territory of another would have disastrous consequences.

He stressed the importance of European unity and pointed out that undermining NATO principles could spell the end of the system that has so far protected the continent from aggression.

The Danish Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the goal is to increase defense capabilities and send a clear signal to its ally across the Atlantic. Despite negotiations at the White House, Trump has not changed his position, but a working group has been set up for further discussions.
