Politico: Europe prepares for an era without the US, but with Ukraine

Tensions between the US and Europe have escalated following President Donald Trump's threats against countries supporting Greenland's sovereignty. European leaders consider Trump's attempt to annex Danish territory to be "the last straw" and are increasingly vocal about the need for a new transatlantic order without the US, according to Politico.

Diplomats warn that Trump's actions threaten not only trade ties but also the very foundation of NATO. Behind the scenes, an alternative security alliance is developing, actively communicating with Ukraine, known as the "Washington Group," made up of leaders such as Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, and Ursula von der Leyen.

They are also in close contact with Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, Europe is discussing the creation of a permanent EU army and strengthening its own defense by 2030.

The idea of a "post-American" West is taking shape and, according to the media, could reshape the global balance of power. European leaders are preparing a joint approach, which they will discuss at an extraordinary summit and possibly directly with Trump during the Davos forum.
