A senior White House official told Suspilne that "the trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia was productive."
Ukrainian officials confirmed to Axios that the trilateral talks were "positive" and "constructive."
Zelensky wrote on X that "many issues were discussed and it is important that the talks were constructive."
He specified that "the central topic of the discussions was the possible parameters for ending the war." He appreciated "the understanding of the need for American monitoring and oversight of the process of ending the war and ensuring real security."
According to him, the result of the negotiations during these days is "an agreement by all parties to inform their capitals about every aspect of the negotiations and to coordinate further steps with their leaders."
At the next meeting, which according to Zelensky could take place as early as next week, it will be necessary to discuss a list of other issues identified by military representatives. He declared that Ukraine is ready to "move forward."
He thanked the United Arab Emirates and the President of the Emirates "for mediating and for their willingness to host further meetings."
Ukraine was represented at Saturday's talks by Umerov, the head of the presidential office Kyrylo Budanov, his first deputy Serhiy Kyslytsya, the chairman of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction Davyd Arakhamia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov, and Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Vadym Skibitsky.
The American side was represented at the meeting by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Josh Gruenbaum, General Daniel Driscoll, and General Alex Grinkevich. According to Rustem Umerov, the Russian side was represented by representatives of military intelligence and the army.
The meeting in Abu Dhabi was preceded by a visit to Moscow on January 22 by US representatives Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Josh Gruenbaum. There, they held three-and-a-half-hour talks with Vladimir Putin and his team, including Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev.
