Trump: The US has taken oil from seized Venezuelan tankers
The United States, led by President Donald Trump, has seized oil from Venezuelan tankers that were detained during the White House's current campaign to control oil exports from Venezuela. He said this in an interview with the New York Post, quoted by Reuters.
The White House chief said the oil would be processed in US refineries, mentioning Houston as one of the processing sites. He added, "They don't have any oil—we're taking the oil."
Since the start of the campaign, the US military has detained seven tankers linked to Venezuela. Trump also reported that the US has acquired up to 50 million barrels of oil, some of which it is selling on the open market.
