Trump threatens Canada with 100% tariff if it reaches agreement with China

US President Donald Trump has threatened Canada with a 100% tariff if it signs a trade agreement with China. According to him, such a move would open the door for Beijing to enter the US market via the "Canadian port," which would threaten not only Canada's economy but also its social structure.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently described Beijing as a "reliable and predictable partner" and called on Europe in Davos to consider Chinese investments. However, Trump warns that if an agreement is reached, all Canadian exports to the US will immediately be subject to a 100% tariff.

Tensions between the two countries are mounting—the US president canceled Canada's participation in his peace initiative after Carney's speech criticizing the use of tariffs as a tool of power.
