The capital of Greenland experienced a power outage

The capital of Greenland, Nuuk, experienced a city-wide power outage late on Saturday evening, which, according to local energy supplier Nukissiorfiit, was caused by an accident, adding that it was working to secure backup power.

According to eyewitness accounts, the power outage occurred simultaneously throughout the city.

Nukissiorfiit and the Greenlandic police issued statements about the outage on Facebook, but neither provided details about the accident.

The outage occurred after Greenlandic authorities updated their emergency preparedness guidelines earlier this week in response to US President Donald Trump's interest in acquiring Danish territory.
