An explosion occurred in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.
An explosion in the strategic Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on Saturday claimed at least one life and left 14 people injured. The cause of the explosion is not yet known, and Iranian authorities have announced that the incident is under investigation.
The Tasnim news agency has rejected reports on social media that the attack targeted the commander of the Revolutionary Guard's naval forces, calling them false.
The incident occurred at a time of heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington. In recent days, the United States has signaled a strengthening of its military presence in the region, and President Donald Trump has spoken of moving "armies" toward Iran. However, Israeli officials told Reuters that Israel had nothing to do with the explosions.
Separately, Iranian media also reported a gas explosion in the city of Ahvaz near the border with Iraq, killing four people. Bandar Abbas, located on the Strait of Hormuz, is a key hub for global oil trade and was hit by a devastating explosion last year that claimed dozens of lives.
Israel is not involved in the series of explosions that took place in Iran on Saturday, two Israeli officials said.
