Iran considers returning to nuclear diplomacy with the US

Iran has indicated its willingness to resume nuclear talks with the United States, although fundamental differences remain, particularly on the issue of ballistic missiles. According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Tehran is considering various forms of diplomacy, but time is against it due to ongoing sanctions.

Tensions between the countries have increased after the US strengthened its military presence off the Iranian coast in response to the bloody crackdown on anti-government protests.

President Donald Trump has refrained from direct intervention, but at the same time has set tough conditions for the resumption of negotiations – zero uranium enrichment, missile restrictions, and an end to support for regional allies.

Iran officially rejects these conditions, but according to sources, it is willing to show some flexibility on the nuclear issue, for example by handing over some of its highly enriched uranium.

Negotiations could soon take place in Turkey. However, Tehran insists that diplomacy must not be accompanied by military pressure and demands the lifting of sanctions as a key step.
